Training starts with the study of Budo Taijutsu - the techniques of strikes, joint locks, throws and use of hidden weapons in defense against both
armed and unarmed opponents. You are then gradually introduced to the use of various
weapons such as:
Bo (6ft Staff)
Hanbo (3ft stick)
Ken (Sword)
Yari (Spear)
Naginata (Glaive)
Shuriken (Throwing Blades)
etc.
The main characteristics of what we do include:
- The use of timing, distance and whole body movement to control the opponent.
- Not using any strength and keeping a relaxed body.
- Turning off our intention
(Ishiki) so the opponent is taken by the technique
without realizing what is happening.
