The Bujinkan is the organisation which represents the nine schools of traditional Japanese martial arts of which Masaaki Hatsumi-sensei is Soke (Grandmaster):

Shindenfudo Ryu Dakentaijutsu
Kukishinden Ryu Happo Bikenjutsu
Takagiyoshin Ryu Jutaijutsu
Gyokko Ryu Koshijutsu
Koto Ryu Koppojutsu
Gikan Ryu Koppojutsu
Togakure Ryu Ninpo Taijutsu
Kumogakure Ryu Ninpo Taijutsu
Gyokushin Ryu Ninpo Taijutsu

Training starts with the study of Budo Taijutsu - the techniques of strikes, joint locks, throws and use of hidden weapons in defense against both armed and unarmed opponents. You are then gradually introduced to the use of various weapons such as:
Bo (6ft Staff)
Hanbo (3ft stick)
Ken (Sword)
Yari (Spear)
Naginata (Glaive)
Shuriken (Throwing Blades)
etc.

The main characteristics of what we do include:

- The use of timing, distance and whole body movement to control the opponent.

- Not using any strength and keeping a relaxed body.

- Turning off our intention (Ishiki) so the opponent is taken by the technique

  without realizing what is happening.
